I am a Research Fellow at Lille Économie et Management, Université de Lille, France, and Affiliate of the CESifo Research Network. I also serve on the Board of the European Public Choice Society. From 2012 to 2022, I was an Assistant Professor at the Economics Department of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow, and a guest lecturer at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Between 2017 and 2022, I served as Deputy Director of the HSE International Center for the Study of Institutions and Development (ICSID), which became internationally recognized for its high-quality research. I hold an MA and a PhD in Economics from HSE University.

My background is in economics and economic geography with the primary research interests in the fields of political economy, institutional economics and the economics of social capital and culture. My ongoing research projects are interdisciplinary and involve collaboration with economists and political scientists alike. I was a visiting fellow at ifo Institute, WZB Berlin Social Science Center, Ghent University, Bank of Finland Institute for Emerging Economies (BOFIT) among others. I have published in European Economic Review, American Political Science Review, Nature Medicine, Journal of Politics, European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Comparative Economics and Post-Soviet-Affairs.
